 حَتَّى إِذَا بَلَغَ مَغْرِبَ الشَّمْسِ وَجَدَهَا تَغْرُبُ فِي عَيْنٍ حَمِئَةٍ وَوَجَدَ عِندَهَا قَوْمًا قُلْنَا يَا ذَا الْقَرْنَيْنِ إِمَّا أَن تُعَذِّبَ وَإِمَّا أَن تَتَّخِذَ فِيهِمْ حُسْنًا 18:86

يہاں تک کہ جب سورج کے غروب ہونے کي جگہ پہنچا تو اسے ايسا پايا کہ ايک کيچڑ کي ندي ميں ڈوب رہا ہے اور اس (ندي) کے پاس ايک قوم ديکھي. ہم نے کہا ذوالقرنين! تم ان کو خواہ تکليف دو خواہ ان (کے بارے) ميں بھلائي اختيار کرو (دونوں باتوں ميں تم کو قدرت ہے) 18:86

 18:86 [And he marched westwards] till, when he came to the setting of the sun, it appeared to him that it was setting in a dark, turbid sea; and nearby he found a people [given to every kind of wrongdoing]. We said: "O thou Two-Horned One! Thou mayest either cause [them] to suffer or treat them with kindness!" 18:86
