لاَّ جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكُمْ إِن طَلَّقْتُمُ النِّسَاء مَا لَمْ تَمَسُّوهُنُّ أَوْ تَفْرِضُواْ لَهُنَّ فَرِيضَةً وَمَتِّعُوهُنَّ عَلَى الْمُوسِعِ قَدَرُهُ وَعَلَى الْمُقْتِرِ قَدْرُهُ مَتَاعًا بِالْمَعْرُوفِ حَقًّا عَلَى الْمُحْسِنِينَ 2:236 |

اور اگر تم عورتوں کو ان کے پاس جانے يا ان کا مہر مقرر کرنے سے پہلے طلاق دے دو تو تم پر کچھ گناہ نہيں. ہاں ان کو دستور کے مطابق کچھ خرچ ضرور دو (يعني) مقدور والا اپنے مقدور کے مطابق دے اور تنگدست اپني حيثيت کے مطابق. نيک لوگوں پر يہ ايک طرح کا حق ہے2:236

2:236 You will incur no sin if you divorce women while you have not yet touched them nor settled a dower upon them; but [even in such a case] make provision for them - the affluent according to his means, and the straitened according to his means - a provision in an equitable manner: this is a duty upon all who would do good. 2:236
