 وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَن يَعْبُدُ اللَّهَ عَلَى حَرْفٍ فَإِنْ أَصَابَهُ خَيْرٌ اطْمَأَنَّ بِهِ وَإِنْ أَصَابَتْهُ فِتْنَةٌ انقَلَبَ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ خَسِرَ الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةَ ذَلِكَ هُوَ الْخُسْرَانُ الْمُبِينُ 22:11

اور لوگوں ميں بعض ايسا بھي ہے جو کنارے پر (کھڑا ہو کر) خدا کي عبادت کرتا ہے. اگر اس کو کوئي (دنياوي) فائدہ پہنچے تو اس کے سبب مطمئن ہوجائے اور اگر کوئي آفت پڑے تو منہ کے بل لوٹ جائے (يعني پھر کافر ہوجائے) اس نے دنيا ميں بھي نقصان اٹھايا اور آخرت ميں بھي. يہي تو نقصان صريح ہے 22:11

 22:11 And there is, too, among men many a one who worships God on the border-line [of faith]: thus, if good befalls him, he is satisfied with Him; but if a trial assails him, he turns away utterly, losing [thereby both] this world and the life to come: [and] this, indeed, is a loss beyond compare! 22:11
